PROVINCIAL CONVENTIONS START WITH CHOISEUL PROVINCE

Choiseul Province will be the first to hold its Provincial Convention early this year in Taro, to look into the revised Draft Federal Constitution 2011.

The provincial conventions are part of the ratification process in gaining greater public consensus on the Constitutional Reform in Solomon Islands.

It is envisaged that all provinces including Honiara City will hold respective conventions before the draft is put together in one final form for the national convention. Although the reform program is faced with budgetary cuts, it is hoped that these vital activities will be carried out efficiantly this year.
